Clarence-Rockland is situated on the unceded traditional and ancestral land of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee Nations. The City of Clarence-Rockland gratefully acknowledges these Indigenous nations for their guardianship of this land, and we honour them.

WHEREAS Council, at its Regular Meeting of March 8, 2023, adopted Resolution No. 2023-23, which mandated the Administration to proceed with the Cobb’s Lake Creek bridge demolition; and
 
WHEREAS Council, at its Special Closed meeting of September 28, 2023, received new information pertaining to the Cobb’s Lake Creek bridge demolition; and
 
WHEREAS it is deemed appropriate to reconsider the decision taken under Resolution No. 2023-23, in order to consider the new information received;
 
BE IT RESOLVED that Council hereby agrees to reconsider its decision taken under Resolution 2023-23.

WHEREAS the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Ontario (CEPEO) has been working on a project to build a public high school in Rockland for several years; and


WHEREAS memorandum of understanding on the use of facilities north of Highway 17 was signed by several potential partners in 2013; and


WHEREAS the said memorandum of understanding must be revised or even redefined since the roles and responsibilities of potential partners have evolved over time;


BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the City of Clarence-Rockland confirm its intention to continue to support the project to build a public high school in Rockland, as proposed by the CEPEO; and


BE IT ALSO RESOLVED THAT the City of Clarence-Rockland commits to establish a new memorandum of understanding to create a partnership with the CEPEO in order to maximize the sharing of facilities for sports and cultural activities.

Whereas there is a growing demand from residents for the City of Clarence-Rockland to actively promote the diversion of organic waste, and;


Whereas Ontario’s Food and Organic Waste Policy Statement states that municipalities “shall provide for the resource recovery of food and organic waste through means such as home composting, community composting and local event days” and “shall provide promotion and education materials to residents that support and increase participation in resource recovery efforts available to residents of their community”, and;


Whereas reducing the waste we generate, diverting waste from landfills and recycling valuable resources from our waste stream all significantly contribute to reducing GHG emissions.


Be it resolved that council approve that the administration provide a signed confirmation of the City of Clarence-Rockland’s participation in the FoodCycler pilot program for 500 units, up to an amount of $54,200.00.
